Young or old, you must have definitely come across Kumarimuthu at some point in your life. His trademark laughter used to herald his entry even before he appeared on screen. And today, it is a sad day indeed for Tamil cinema as the veteran comedian is no more.
Kumarimuthu breathed his last on Sunday, 28 February. He was taken to a private hospital where he passed away. A source close to the actor told an entertainment website," He passed away on Sunday night at Kauvery hospital due to some age-related ailments."
Indeed, Kollywood has lost a gem of an actor who has been a part of cinema since 1978. He has also acted along with the famous comic duo of Goundamani and Senthil, who were all a rage back in the day.
The actor has played supporting roles in more than 50 different films including the greats like Idhu Namma Aalu, Sahadevan Mahadevan, Oru Oorla Oru Rajakumari, Marumagan and Cheran Pandiyan. His last Kollywood movie was the 2009 Vijay starrer Villu.
After Villu, the actor decided to take a hiatus from films and he started getting more involved in politics. Then, he finally joined the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, which the most popular political party of Tamil Nadu and is run M. Karunanidhi.
Kumari sir was really a inspiration to many aspiring comedians because nothing stopped him from becoming one of the greatest comedians of our generation.
