Krishnadasi aired on January 25,2016
Colors social drama 'Krishnadasi ' is all set to shut down because of dwindling TRPs. The show started on a promising note eight months ago. It started with the story of the life of a Devdaasi but lost the plot somewhere in between. The show will be replaced by Shashi and Sumeet Mittal's new show 'Sangharsh' at the 10.30 slot on Colors.
Krishnadasi starred Sana Amin Sheikh as Aradhya's daughter of a Pune based Devdaasi. All kinds of twists like ghost drama etc were incorporated to spice up the show but all in vain. A source while talking to a leading daily said, "We don't understand where the track is headed. After introducing Sonal Handa as the villain in the show, the creative team is now planning to introduce a bizarre track revolving around a ghost. It's heading the 'Sasural Simar Ka' way."
The show was a comeback for Chaavi Mittal as Tulsi a courtesan but she left the show midway as she was not happy with the role .Later on Jaya Binju Tyagi stepped in but was also killed in the show . The show also boasted of senior actors like Indira Krishnan and Uday Tikekar but that did not seem to help the show . Audience failed to connect with lead pair Aradhya (Sana Amin Sheikh) and Aryan' (Shravan Reddy).
The show was produced by South Indian actress Kutti Padmini of Chhota Chetan fame and was a Hindi version of a Tamil show with same name on Sun TV that starred Gemini Ganeshan. Krishadasi was based on a book written by Indra Soundarajan. Kutty Padmini had bought the rights and adapted it into a television serial. The series was aired in 2000. The story revolved around a Dasi girl, who is on the lookout for her father. The Hindi version was set to the Maharashtrian culture and was directed by Amit Mallik and Ashish Srivatsav.'
