Bollywood actress Kubra Sait, who was seen in a small role in Salman Khan's Sultan, garnered a huge popularity for her character Cuckoo in Anurag Kashyap's recently released web-series Sacred Games. In a recent interview with HT, the actress shared her experience and opinion about the ongoing #MeToo movement, which has created a storm in the industry. Kubra said that she was also prepositioned for the work but she can't take names. “No. I don’t want to name people. Yes, I have been propositioned, and even had people made advances under the pretext of, ‘I know you felt it too, I know you wanted it too'.”
She further added, “Bothered me, it made me angry, but I took my time to heal”. While she reckons that she heals “comparatively sooner”, she “chose never to go back into their offices again, or allow them near my personal spaces”. She went on to say that, she concentrated on her strength and worked in that direction, “Smaller joys over the bigger victories”. Kubbra has been quoted as saying, “I can only empathise with the pain that the girls and women have been through, but in the light, we are in today, I can proudly say #TimesUp.”
With more actresses coming out and talking about their stories, we hope the entertainment industry becomes a safer place for the women.
