This is turning out to be a good year for Indian Television. We saw some shows with new concepts doing well like Ishq Subhan Allah. We have seen many shows go off air but many of the new ones are quite successful. In fact, some shows that were released without any hype did really well. The best case in example is Krishna Chali London. The show has relatively new faces and was launched without great fanfare. It has made it to the top ten due to its comic element and performances. Even Kullfi Kumar Bajewala surprised one and all with its success on the TRP charts. Here is a look at shows that were sleeper hits this year...
Krishna Chali London
The show has entered into the top 10 for the first time and fans could not be happier. It is the story of Krishna (Megha Chakraborty) who dreams of becoming a doctor but her hopes crash as she gets married to Radhe (Gaurav Sareen). However, he turns out to be a devoted husband and slowly wins over his reluctant wife. It is different from the other dramas and fans are liking it immensely. The show did not have a great buzz around it so the success is totally surprising. It is one of successes for the channel in recent times.
Roop - Mard Ka Naya Swaroop
Rashmi Sharma is known for her social shows. Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki is one of the biggest hits for Colors in recent times. She followed that up with Roop, a show around a male lead who believes in gender equality but struggles to convince everyone around him about it. A slow starter, Roop has picked up well. Shashank Vyas' convincing performance as the grown-up idealistic Rupendra has kept the viewers engrossed.
Qayamat Ki Raat
With Naagin 3 coming around the same time, no one gave much of a chance to Qayamat Ki Raat. The Vivek Dahiya - Karishma Tanna supernatural horror fantasy inspired from the Ramsay series and South Indian flicks like Arundhati has caught on with the masses. The show has decent production values, cheesy lines and some good old chemistry that makes it a breezy watch.
Kullfi Kumar Bajewala
Kullfi Kumar Bajewala which is the Hindi remake of Potol Kumar Gaanwala is one of the best performing shows on the BARC charts. It was also a slow starter and there was not much hype around it. Mohit Malik who plays Sikander Singh Gill was also away from TV for two years or more. Today, the whole cast has won viewers over. People adore Aakriti Sharma and him as the father-daughter duo of Kulfi and Sikander. The emotional quotient of the show is high and ever fails to impress.
