Acclaimed writer-director Kundan Shah passed away on Saturday morning after succumbing to a heart attack. The industry just lost of the most talented personalities who gave us many a Tv serials and movies to cherish. After studying at the Film and Television institute of India, Pune, He went on to direct his first film - Jaane Bhi do Yaaron. Satish Kaushik was one of the writers. For the first time Indian cinema was introduced to a non slapstick humour film. It remains one of his most popular films. Soon after he went on to work in Television. Ye Jo Hai Zindagi, Nukkad, Manorajan, Wagle Ki Duniya were some of the serials he directed. The director by then went on a break only to return with Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. While this was a love story, the lead star was no hero, in fact he was the naive, amatuer loser who did everything to win over the girl he loved. He won the Filmfare critics award for this film, becoming the first one to be get this award. Shah Rukh Khan was hugely praised for his act. Another gem he created was Kya Kehna starring Preity Zinta. The film tackled the sensitive subject single parenthood. The film was about a girl bearing a child out of wedlock and then facing the consequences thereafter. The film also starred Saif Ali Khan and Chandrachur Singh. His other films include Hum Toh Mohabbat Karega and Dil Hai Tumhara. Celebs like Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar have taken to twitter to pay condolences.
