Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas' engagement was the talk of the town. The actress opted for a yellow chikankari suit from Abu Jani - Sandeep Khosla for the puja and a dress from Cushnie for the engagement party that happened in the evening. The dress was in a subtle and neutral shade of pink, referred as blush pink or taupe in fashion circles. She paired it with a heavy diamond necklace teamed with high heels. We cannot help but notice how the colour came so close to what her BFF Meghan Markle wore at the birthday celebrations of Queen Elizabeth. She had donned a blush pink skirt and blouse from Carolina Herrera with a customised hat.
The colour seems to be a favourite with Markle as it is classic, romantic and elegant. For the birthday celebrations of Prince Charles, she also wore a simple dress in neutral tones of pink and cream. It was complemented with a shiny hat. Meghan also wore blush pink at the Young Leaders Awards. It was a double-breasted suit from Prada. In fact, fashion glossies have also asked psychologists why Meghan has veered so much towards pink post her marriage into the royal family.
Given how desi engagements go, Priyanka could have opted for something more Indian and sparkling but she decided to keep it subtle and let the glow on her face do all the talking. The dress was elegant but not one many would have expected Priyanka to wear at an engagement party in Mumbai. People say that soft pinks reflect a truly romantic heart and PeeCee has one. Meghan moved away from her casual California vibe for more sophisticated looks post her wedding. Priyanka has made quite an impression so far with all her fashion outings in the West and works with the best of stylists. We wonder if Meghan's looks inspired her to go so subtle for her engagement?
