The film is not a sequel to Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge
While it was earlier almost confirmed that Happy Bhaag Jayegi actress Diana Penty will be opposite Kartik Aaryan in Athithi in London, it is now learnt that Lisa Haydon has replaced her in the film! Yes, that's right. A report in a leading tabloid states that Queen actress Lisa has been roped in opposite Kartik in the film, the story of which revolves around a London-based couple with Paresh Rawal stepping in as the troublesome guest. "She was offered the film but she is not doing it," Diana's spokesperson had confirmed the news a few weeks ago.
While Karthik and Paresh were finalised for the film much before, Lisa has been signed recently. "Lisa plays a London girl and came on board this week. Kartik and Paresh were signed much earlier and the team was on the lookout for an Indian girl born and brought up abroad. Lisa fit the bill perfectly. Her character takes on odd jobs to make a living and afford a decent lifestyle in the expensive city. She is expected to shoot between the first week of September and mid-October in London and its outskirts. The atithi's arrival causes an upheaval in the household as the couple is already facing a cash crunch," reports the leading tabloid.
Athithi in London is clearly not a sequel to Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge. Although the concept of an unwanted guest is based on Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge (2010), Abhishek Pathak, the film's director, has cleared denied that. The film will be directed by Ashwni Dhir.
