The song Do deewane sheher mein from the 1977 film Gharonda still stands relevant in 2018. If anything, now there is a nightmarish quality added to house-hunting in a big city like Mumbai. Romantic is the last adjective that could be associated with the cumbersome ordeal. And here we are talking about Love Per Square Foot - an Indian Netflix original film that romanticises finding a living quarter in the metro city. But it is a newage romance. In fact, Love Per Square Feet is an all-new take at the old "Do deewane sheher mein" scenario. The first trailer of the upcoming film dropped today.
Angira Dhar and Vickey Kaushal play the two lead characters. They are not in love to begin with but are only friends who buy a flat together for some reason. After which they begin to fall in love. As Angira puts it, in one of the dialogues in the trailer, they are living their life in reverse order. The trailer certainly has a young and fresh vibe to it and it might strike a chord with the millennials. Angira (Bang Baaja Baarat) and Vickey (Raman Raghav 2.0) are two talented actors, so you can be sure that Love Per Square Feet is going to be cakewalk when it comes to delivering compelling performances. While many original series by Netflix have won hearts, the streaming service has not primarily gained a loyal fanbase when it comes to their original movies. Gerald's Game is one of the only successful titles produced by Netflix in recent times. And ARQ, The Open House, Christmas Inheritance, A Christmas Prince are examples of the worst movies delivered by them. And let us not forget that Death Note only managed to garner a 39% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. So, going by the graph, we can't really be sure about the fate of Love Per Square Feet. Netflix has proved that they won't invest as much in their original films as they would in web-series.
