M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story is becoming the best biopic ever in terms of collections. After registering a 60 percent occupancy all over, the film is only going bigger and bigger. With 21. 30 cr on first day, it was expected the film will put up another stellar figure for Saturday as well and it did. In its second day it has earned 20. 60 cr. Yes, it is slightly lesser than day one which is again a rarity because Saturday generally is a holiday but the drop is negligible as it continues to earn more.
Taran Adarsh released the figures of second day and it is simple stunning. He writes, "#MSDhoniTheUntoldStory is OUTSTANDING on Sat... Fri 21.30 cr, Sat 20.60 cr. Total: ₹ 41.90 cr. India biz... Heading for ₹ 60 cr+ weekend!" You can see how Saturday earned little less than Friday but it still is good number and the makers should already begin the happy dance. Adarsh is expecting a 60 cr weekend which is huge for the film. In fact, it crossed the opening weekend collection of Azhar in its first day itself. It is even bigger than Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (8. 65 cr) and Mary Kom (8. 4 cr).

Our trade expert had predicted a 40 crore weekend for the film but it will surely go beyond that. We also told you how the film's Tamil version was faring down south. Sreedhar Pillai, noted film critic, shared the numbers and it was overwhelming. He writes, “#MSDhoniTheUntoldStory takes a thundering Tamil Nadu opening. Friday- Day 1 gross Rs 1.85 Cr (approx). What a shot!” After the release too, he gushed about the film after seeing the turnout for the Tamil version. He had written, “#MSDhoniTheUntoldStory in Tamil starts of with a helicopter shot and a huge 6. Fab opening that U C 4 a big hero Tamil film.@FoxStarIndia.” He mentions how the turnout is equivalent to what you see for big superstars of the South, that’s definitely huge.

We also told you how the film has earned heavily in Bangalore. A distributor told us, “The occupancy is about 60-65% and the screen count is about 75-80 screens. It’s big number for this kind of picture. Generally we get 100-110 screens for a Salman Khan/Shah Rukh Khan picture. We were expecting 50-55 screens (for MS Dhoni) but it has crossed 75 screens. The advance bookings have been good and they are expecting a big collection today. It is also a holiday in Bangalore – Amavasya, so that is an added advantage down South.” He also mentioned that there have been no big releases except for one regional movie. So that could also be another factor that worked in movie’s favour. The distributor did go on to mention that the occupancy and screen count is keeping in mind the original Hindi and Tamil version both. As per reports, Chennai got 30 lakhs from both Tamil and Hindi versions.
