The film is directed by Nishikant Kamat.
After the debacle of Rocky Handsome, Nishikant Kamat returns to realistic cinema with Madaari, a social thriller starring Irrfan Khan and Jimmy Sheirgill. Irrfan Khan plays the titular character, a common man who goes against the system as a revenge for what has happened to his child.
The trailer of the film is out, and it is definitely interesting. Like his debut film, Dombivli Fast, Nishikant Kamat once again shows what would happen if a common man crosses all limits of patience with our bureaucratic system and takes an extreme step. From what we have seen from the trailer, Irrfan Khan kidnaps the young son of the Home Minister so that he can avenge for the loss of his own son. Since the news is highly sensitive, the newsmakers and the police try to downplay the matter, with the investigating officer, played by Jimmy Sheirgill, making his team to investigate as if the kidnapped child was just the child of a businessman.
Narrated in an intriguing fashion, the film looks like it has shades of Kevin Costner and Clint Eastwood's A Perfect World and Nishikant's own Dombivali Fast. The trailer is not outstanding, as compared to say, yesterday's Raman Raghav 2.0, because it reveals too much of the plot. However, Irrfan's look is definitely intriguing. It is his presence that make us look forward to what could be a very different experience for the viewers. Irrfan Khan and Nishikant Kamat had earlier collaborated in Mumbai Meri Jaan.
