Madhuri Dixit recently released her first single, Candle, dedicated to all the frontline workers, striving day in and day out, putting their own lives at risk during the coronavirus pandemic for the safety and betterment of the rest of humanity. What grabbed our attention in the song along with its arresting visuals of frontline workers, Madhuri's powerful and melodious voice, making us all wonder why she hadn't tried her hand at singing before. Well, as the old saying goes, better late than never, and we have our fingers crossed now for more songs from her.
Sharing the song on her official Instagram handle, Madhuri Dixit wrote: "Candle - happy, excited and a little nervous! Here's my first ever song, out for all of you to enjoy. Hope you love it as much as we enjoyed creating it!" The track, which is in English, ends with the beautiful words: "This is dedicated to all those fighting on the frontline. They are the real heroes. We need to burn bright like candles through the hurricane and emerge stronger together." Check out her song below:
Beside Madhuri, two of Madhuri's former costars, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, both of whom with which she has given several hit films, have also releases songs on the COVID-19 and the lockdown. Speaking about their musical efforts in a recent interview to Zoom, Madhuri Dixit expressed her desire to team up with them for her next song.
"Well, let's hope so (on teaming with the two Khans for a song in the future)...that's a candle of hope I will hold. I loved watching Shah Rukh Khan for I For India. I think he was very cute. And Salman is doing his own song, picturising it. He is at his farm so he's shooting there. It's amazing! We are all artists, we are a part of this. Acting, dancing, singing, it's all a part of the same art. It comes under art and we all have it in us. There are so many talented people we have in the industry who can sing as well as act," Madhuri Dixit said.
SRK and Madhuri Dixit have earlier worked together in five movies, including (in order) Anjaam, Koyla, Dil To Pagal Hai, Gaja Gamini, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam (of which, Salman was also a part of) and Devdas. On the other hand, Salman and Madhuri have collaborated on three movies beside Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam in the past — (in order) Saajan, Dil Tera Aashiq and Hum Aapke Hain Koun.
