April 27 has become a lucrative date down South all thanks to Baahubali 2. SS Rajamouli's magnum opus released on April 28, 2017 and Indian cinema was never the same again. This year, too, three films were set to clash on April 27 - Mahesh Babu's Bharat Ane Nenu, Allu Arjun's Naa Peru Surya and Rajinikanth's Kaala Karikaalan. The latter's film was anyway causing a discomfort for the former two and now we have news that both the films' release has been rescheduled. Bharat Ane Nenu will now release a week ahead on April 20 while Naa Peru Surya has moved to May 4.
Trade expert Mahesh Bala revealed the release dates an hour ago, making it evident that nobody likes to take on Rajinikanth at the box office. Despite the fact that his last few films (apart from Kabali) were disasters and 2.0 is still looking for a release date, nobody wants to take chances. Rajinikanth is worshipped down South and thus no one wants to take on the giant of Indian Cinema. It was anyway evident that the makers of both the films will have to decide on a different date because businesswise it won't be a good proposition to take on Kaala Karikaalan. Check out the tweet here...
Rajinikanth plays a don again after Kabali in Kaala Karikaalan. The film also stars Huma Qureshi and Nana Patekar. 2.0's constant reshuffling of dates has caused a lot of concern. When Kaala...got confirmed for April 27, one of the producers requested the producers' council to intervene and come to a solution for this matter. “We always welcome regional films in our state. But, Rajinikanth’s 2.0 has announced a lot of release dates, creating needless confusion among our peers. DVV Danayya and I have mutually decided to take up this issue with the producers’ council, and exhibitors association of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana 2.0 will affect our plans. As of now, we will stand by our commitment," the producer requested. Guess this was the only possible solution.
