Does that mean that the filmmaker will be mired in controversy?
When the Neeraj Grover murder case came to a legal conclusion with prime accused Maria Susairaj walking scot-free, director Ram Gopal Varma decided to cast her in a biographical film! But RGV was condemned for that decision and he made the movie with Mahi Gill instead. Aarushi Talwar's murder case sired two films based on it - Rahasya and the upcoming film Talvar. Jessica Lal murder case too inspired filmmakers to make No One Killed Jessica. And looks like Bollywood's obsession with real life murder mysteries would continue, even though unwittingly in this particular case. Turns out Mahesh Bhatt's next is going to be loosely similar to the ongoing Sheena Bora murder case. The chilling high profile murder case involved former Star India chief Peter Mukerjea's wife Indrani Mukerjea who is accused of murdering her daughter. In an interview with a leading daily, Bhatt revealed that his next film which is likely to go on floors this December, has somewhat a similar story-line as the Sheena Bora case.
He was quoted saying, "I empathise with the living hell Peter is going through and this is not a pathetic attempt to ride on his unspeakable tragedy. But bizarre as it may sound, fact is that this is a case of life imitating fiction rather than fiction imitating life. The story grew out of my imagination. I never imagined that it could be unfolding for real in a highrise in our backyard where the rich and powerful reside. The coincidence between a pure work of fiction and real life staggers me, it makes me shudder."
Bhatt confirms that he wouldn't lap up the opportunity of basing his film on the ongoing murder case. He says, My work is done, I only wrote this story for my protege. The film should roll in December. I never imagined that it would explode for real as the mother of all crime stories."
We are waiting to find out what Bhatt's film will be all about!
