The number of gems Malayalam cinema has managed to churn out this year is second to none. The latest film that's been making headlines in Mollywood is Tovino Thomas starrer Maayanadhi directed by Aashiq Abu and produced by Santosh Kuruvilla.
Speaking at a special screening in Chennai, Tovino said, "I have done 20 films in 5 years of my acting career. This movie was a delightful journey. This story is based on the incidents that happened in Mumbai. I think movies like this will be the future of Indian Cinema. There is a healthy competition going on between various cinema industries in India right now. How family audience is thronging to theatres to watch ‘Mayaanadhi’ is proof that audience has accepted this new age cinema."
Tovino is currently awaiting the release of ‘Abiyum Anuvum’ in Tamil where he co-stars with Pia Bajpai, and he will start shooting for Dhanush's ‘Maari 2' directed by Balaji Mohan in February.
Harish Uthaman, who has played a crucial role in the movie, said, "This is my 28th movie. I am very happy with the huge recognition I have got from this movie. I wish more movies like this should come in Tamil. Producer Santhosh is a very simple man who wants to do quality movies. Tovino Thomas has done a fabulous job in the movie. I had only one combination scene with Aishwarya Lakshmi. She is very lucky to get such a brilliant movie. The story writers and producers gave a lot of valuable inputs whenever they visited the shooting spot. People have seen me as a villain in Telugu and Tamil movies, but this character is very fresh for audience and me too."
