The 21st edition of the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival kickstarted on a grand note. Last night, at the opening ceremony of the festival, we witnessed the who's who of Bollywood on the red carpet. It was a star-studded night with the presence of celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Taapsee Pannu, Kalki Koechlin, Karan Johar, Kiran Rao, Genelia D'Souza, Konkana Sen Sharma, Vishal Bharadwaj, Kabir Khan, Urvashi Rautela, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and others. Needless to add, there were best and worst dressed celebs at the opening ceremony of MAMI. But, we aren't here to talk about the same. It's all about the ones who marked their presence and had lots to say while interacting with the media.
Take a look at the celebrities who attended the MAMI opening ceremony:
While addressing the media at the event, Deepika Padukone revealed as to why she became the chairperson of this festival. "Many of you are probably wondering why I am here and that the role of a chairperson is for someone older and wiser. Many others believe that I am too young, too mainstream, too tall and now look at what I am wearing!' (referring to her gown). But I am here for two reasons- to learn and to give back to the community, which has given me so much," she said.
A week before the festival began, the organizers of MAMI had arranged a Movie Mela where fans interacted with the filmmakers and stars, under one roof. Keep following this space for more scoops and updates!
