The most prestigious awards in our country - the winners of the National Awards were announced today. And while we agreed with a few results, we were surprised by a few missing names from the list! We feel that Manoj Bajpayee's Aligarh, Shahid Kapoor's Udta Punjab, Aamir Khan's Dangal, Akshay Kumar's Airlift and a few others were ignored completely by the jury. In fact, Aligarh was one of the most interesting films of 2016 and Manoj Bajpayee's performance was totally phenomenal! But sadly, the film did not even get a special mention, forget an award. So we decided to call up the star of the film and ask him as to how he felt about the same.
However, looks like Manoj Bajpayee was in no mood to talk about the 64th National Awards. When we contacted the star and told him about the results, Manoj seemed unusually curt. He retorted, "I don't want to say anything about it." (ALSO READ - Hansal Mehta is disappointed as Aligarh gets snubbed at 64th National Film Awards - read tweets)
Director Hansal Mehta also reacted to the news and, in a series of tweets, said, "Am getting calls asking me if Aligarh was entered for the National Awards and if I was disappointed with the results. Yes, Aligarh was entered and while we are disappointed like many other colleagues I would like to congratulate all the winners. The jury has a difficult job every year and there are bound to be disappointments for many, a few debatable awards and much hurt over being overlooked. At the same time some fine films have been rewarded and some excellent work has been recognized. To all my colleagues who poured their hearts out into Aligarh, lets just keep making our films with love and care - awards or no awards. There is no point brooding over the results. There is merit in only moving on and continuing to work, to make movies that we believe in. Manoj, Apu, Raj, Satya, Neil, Mandar and the entire team, you are all champions."
Well, we surely wished that Manoj Bajpayee and team Aligarh would have been awarded for their film or at least been given a special mention. What is your take on the results? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below...
