The song is composed by Ilaiyaraaja
Kollywood actor Kamal Haasan has been a part of lot of ambitious projects like Vishwaroopam and Dasavatharam. But his most ambitious project till date has been Marudhanayagam. This historical film, based on the Tamil hero of the same name, began shooting in 1997, but was soon shelved and its shooting has not resumed since. But there is finally a little glimpse for Kamal fans who have been dying to see this masterpiece completed.
A new song from the movie was released recently, and it is bound to give you goosebumps. It takes savagery and brutality a whole new meaning. The song and the movie is set in an era where India was colonised by the British. The video shows the Ulaganayagan with long hair and a big shaggy beard, clad in only a loincloth. He shows his animalistic side as he bites into a man's jugular, fights off hordes of men with a spear, and escapes a fugitive situation on a raging bull as his friends are murdered before his eyes!
The number features a lot of violence and Kamal looks menacing and downright scary as he takes on his enemies. Remember that this was all shot in early 2000 and was done almost with little to no VFX. The score itself is a mournful melody which perfectly suits the action unfolding onscreen. Truly, if this is a taste of the what the movie will be like then seriously Marudhanayagam has the potential to beat movies like Baahubali.
Unfortunately, there is still no news of the shooting being resumed and the rumour about the same keeps surfacing every two years. We pray that one day this rumour actually turns out to be true.
