Diwali has always been a special time for Kollywood, as every star wishes to cash in the festive mood of the masses. While we are still two months away from the festival of lights, the battle royale at box office has already started to heat up. Last year, it was Vijay's Kaththi which raked insane money during Diwali. Who is going to make the most of Diwali this time around? According to the rumours in Kollywood, three big Tamil films are eyeing for release during the festival of lights. Thala Ajith's Thala 56, Kamal Haasan's Thoongavanam and Dhanush's VIP 2 are speculated to be locking horns this Diwali season. Thala 56
After the success of Veeram, Ajith teams up with director Siva yet again for an emotional story between a brother and the sister. Shruti Haasan is playing Ajith's heroine and Lakshmi Menon is playing his sister. And considering Ajith's huge fan following, Thala 56 will be very well received if released during Diwali. Thoongavanam
Riding high on the success of Papanasam, Kamal Haasan is ready to strike yet again with Thoongavanam. A highly action packed thriller, Thoongavanam, is said to be a remake of French film Sleepless Night. The film stars Kamal Haasan, Trisha and Prakash Raj in lead roles.
VIP 2
After taking the box office by storm with his 25th film Vellailla Pattadhari aka VIP, Dhanush has once again joined hands with director Velraj for a sequel to the film tentatively titled VIP 2. The film has Samantha and Amy Jackson as two leading ladies. With the kinda impact VIP made on the young audience, people are expecting big things from VIP 2.
While more films are expected to join the Diwali release bandwagon in coming days, it will be interesting to see which of these films are brave and confident enough to clash at box office.
