What was your inspiration to participate in the Miss India pageant?
An urge to be a delegate of India at an International level resided from the very beginning. Later friends and family seeded the idea of this mode of representation and here I am.
Do you think beauty pageants objectify women?
No, they focus a lot more on a women’s personality than physical beauty. Many winners in the past have been a testimony to that. Pageants look for women worthy of being role models and any role model has to face a certain pressure.
What in your opinion are the five most important things needed to win a pageant like the Miss World?
According to my thoughts the 5 things that are needed to win any pageant are: Empathy, Adaptability, physical and mental strength, maturity and grace.
How does it feel to represent the country for such a prestigious event?
It feels like a dream come true. I’ll be the face of India there and I feel privileged to be granted that opportunity.
How important do you think is beauty in such pageants?
A beauty pageant holds great relevance to beauty. But it is here that we need to define beauty in the right manner. It is clichéd but true that they seek a combined package of inner and outer beauty that goes way beyond the face.
What are the kind of preparations that you are undertaking for the event?
A wholesome preparation that covers communication skills, ramp walk, grooming, talent, rehearsals and etiquette.
Give us a peek into your fitness and diet regime?
I work out 6 times a week and mix Pilates with high altitude functional training. I eat fresh home cooked meals and avoid junk food.
With such a huge event coming up, how do you stay calm? How do you destress?
Some silent time to myself with a cup of tea in hand or a phone call to my family back home sets everything in calm state.
Tell us a bit about your childhood and background.
I was a very nerdy child with a huge stage fright. After finishing school in silence. I changed my career path by studying business and finance. I then started working as a research analyst for Ernst & Young.
Your other interests.
I am fond of reading, painting and dancing.
Any modelling experience?
My modelling experiences began after winning the Miss India title. I have done a few shows and shoots since then, apart from the Miss India endorsements.
If you win the title, what are your plans?
I have always followed the flow of destiny and worked hard along the way. I’ll just grab every opportunity that comes my way and give my hundred percent to each.
