The Raj Thackeray led party strikes again...
You must be aware that Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had earlier sent out a threatening letter to Bollywood celebrities who hadn't helped the poor farmers of Maharashtra who are committing suicides due to drought. The state has been reeling under this crisis for sometime now and rather than requesting celebrities to donate for their welfare, they have warned them that if they don't, they should be ready for boycott of their films. And that threat was precisely for Shah Rukh Khan. Staying true to their threats, the MNS-affiliated Chitrapat Karmachari Sena on Monday appealed to people to boycott Shah Rukh starrer Dilwale, releasing this week, alleging that the actor "ignored the plight of farmers reeling under severe drought".
Talking to PTI, MNS Chitrapat Karmachari Sena chief Amey Khopkar said, "Farmers in Maharashtra, specially in Marathwada, are reeling under drought. Khan, who has been residing in the state and has made a lot of money, has not helped farmers in distress. When his help is needed, he isn't forthcoming. We are not seeking a ban. We are only appealing people to boycott the film. SRK is taking Maharashtra for granted." They don't seem pleased with SRK and might create issues.
We wonder what Shah Rukh has to say about all this. Should we be concerned about the film now? We wouldn't want the film to miss its release date as we are eager to watch it, having waited for so long. Guess that's something only SRK can answer!
