The film is directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.
Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro is a period drama set in the Indus Valley civilization, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.
The film stars Pooja Hegde who makes her Bollywood debut with the film, along with Arunoday Singh, Kabir Bedi, Manish Chaudhary, Narendra Jha, Suhasini Mulay and Nitish Bharadwaj, with Sharad Kelkar in a cameo. The music is by AR Rahman.
Mohenjo Daro was a victim of some really bad trolling when the first trailer came out, with many pointing out to the historical inaccuracies in the trailer. Though the makers have maintained that the film is a work of fiction, the damage has been done by then. Even the music by AR Rahman is uninspired, and it was a setback since the music was one of the biggest strengths of Ashutosh Gowariker's previous hits. Even Swades, which was a box office failure then, had some really great music that helped in making the film a critical hit later.
Another setback for the film that it released along with Akshay Kumar's Rustom. Akshay Kumar, who is also the producer of the film, had heavily marketed the film, and therefore Rustom got a better opening at the box office. Rustom collected just over Rs 30 crores at the domestic box office.
Mohenjo Daro meanwhile collected only Rs 18.50 crores in two days, with Saturday collections being Rs 9.75 crore, as per certain trade sources.
With Sunday and Independence Day yet to be over, we do hope that the film manages to make some better performance, as the productions costs of the films has been high. But with everyone trolling the film, it's a really highly unlikely scenario.
