The veteran actress’ power-packed performance in the realistic drama has won the heart of viewers

There is not a single daily soap without a mom. A strong maternal figure is a must-have in every Indian serial. This is holding true since the times of the first Indian daily, Hum Log. On the occasion of Mother’s Day, we had conducted a poll on who is the best mother figure on TV. We were not surprised to see Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi’s Ishwari, actress Supriya Pilgaonkar, Chakravartin Ashok Samrat’s Pallavi Subhash and Swaragini’s Sonica Handa being the most favourite ones. The poll was a see-saw battle between these three. After all, all these ladies have done justice to their characters, which range from caring to idealistic and caustic. Supriya Pilgaonkar was leading the poll in the first few days and understandably so. The lady has built a fabulous bond with co-star Shaheer Sheikh and their chemistry is the best thing about the show. Ishwari is caring but possessive of her son, whom she has raised into a business tycoon after a life full of hardships. Pallavi Subhash is known for her acting chops and good looks. The pretty lady has infused life into the role of Dharma or Shubhadrangi who is Ashoka’s mother. She raises her son into a fearless, compassionate, idealistic young man and is heartbroken to see him in a vengeful avatar. The actress was on the third spot at the starting week but slowly inched to the second place. Swaragini’s Sanskar and Sujata is a unique mother-son pair. While her son Sanskar (Varun Kapoor) makes us shed buckets with his intense lover boy actor, Sujata is the one who makes us laugh. Whether she’s taunting one of the bahus or lamenting the fact that her boy is being ‘two-timed’, Sonica’s Marwari dialogue delivery has us in splits. And she’s cool enough to send her son for a romantic night at the terrace. What more do you want in a mom?

Actresses Supriya Shukla aka Sarla of Kumkum Bhagya and Barkha Bisht of Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman took the fourth and fifth spot respectively.
