Going by his fitness regime, he might even get indicted into the Indian cricket team by the end of his shoot!
Cricket plays a very important role in Sushant Singh Rajput's career. His first film, Kai Po Che, had him as a cricket enthusiast and running a cricket shop and coaching class. In his ambitions upcoming project, directed by Baby director, Neeraj Pandey, he plays the captain of the Indian ODI cricket team and the one who led India to World Cup glory in 2011 - Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
It's not an easy job to make a film on someone who makes news every now and then, and whose image is imprinted on every Indian's mind. Dhoni is a cult figure, and Sushant is taking every measure to make sure that his portrayal of Captain Cool doesn't make the latter's fans scream foul. He is following a strict regime to make sure he comes close to what Dhoni is like in real life
He spoke to a leading daily about his regime, "It's not just a physical transformation but a mental transition too. I am doing things that I never thought I could do. I am also reading a lot of fitness books, watching videos and pushing the envelope everyday. I have started viewing myself in a completely different light from the cricket-obsessed teenager, Ishaan Bhatt of Kai Po Che!"
His regime includes weight loss, cricket practice (but obviously), ballet lessons (?), and other sports drill. He also making a video of the regime to showcase the efforts he had undertaken to get in the skin of Dhoni. By the end of the sixth week, his trainer believes he will be sporting flat abs, instead of the now-quite-normal 6-packs!
About this, Sushant says, "In the '90s, the hero had to look great in every role he did. But today, you have to stay true to your character."
He is now even working on voice modulation to sound just like Dhoni. Guess, the Indian Captain will be truly proud of this boy, huh?
