John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi's Friday release Mumbai Saga is already battling the 50 per cent occupancy limit in theatres across the country. And if that was not enough, the Sanjay Gupta directorial has taken another hit by the notorious torrent site, Tamilrockers, which has apparently leaked the crime drama online on the day of its release.
Several links of Mumbai Saga have been made available on the site, allowing the online users to download the full movie in HD or 1080p for free. This is the second major setback in a row for Bollywood which has lined up a truckload of films for big screen release after the threatres were reopened.
The trade feels, given the circumstances, big films might make an impact, but the overall box office collections aren't going to be very high. And while the number of Covid-19 cases are increasing in the city with each passing day, the situation will likely not work in favour of the overflow of films lined up.
Mumbai Saga, which has been released in theatres on March 19, stars John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Suniel Shetty, Mahesh Manjrekar, Kajal Aggarwal, Rohit Roy, Gulshan Grover, and Prateik Babbar.
According to trade analyst Sumit Kadel, Mumbai Saga is going to struggle at the box office since Mumbai has witnessed a surge in COVID-19 cases. Also, theatres are still functioning on 50 per cent occupancy and the audiences are also hesitating to come due to the fear of contracting the virus. The movie is reportedly going to release across 2500-3000 screens in India and won't have night shows in Mumbai and Gujarat due to night curfew. This will contribute upto 30-40 per cent loss in Mumbai Saga's box office collection.
And with the online leak, the movie might take a toll on its overall box office collection.
