Nagesh Kukunoor is an ingenious director. He has bowled us over with Shreyas Talpade starrer Iqbal and Ayesha Takia-Gul Panag starrer Dor. He failed to hit home run with his next few releases. But his latest upcoming venture Dhanak might be THE ONE! The film centered on two children has already made India proud at Berlinale, the popular Berlin Film Festival. The movie brought home the prestigious Grand Prix of the Generation KplusInternational Jury award.
Before its release in Indian screens, a special screening of Dhanak was held for underprivileged kids. A popular cinema hall chain collaborated with Nagesh Kukunoor and held screenings for thousand kids in New Delhi. The event was one happy and cheerful affair.
The film that is creating rippled in the film industry is also set to be transformed into a children’s novel.
‘Dhanak’ has been written and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, and stars Krrish Chhabria and Hetal Gada as the adorable siblings who embark on a journey to meet Shah Rukh Khan in order to seek help from him. The rest of the cast includes Vipin Sharma, Rajiv Laxman, Suresh Menon and Gulfam Khan amongst others. The film has been produced by Manish Mundra, Nagesh Kukunoor and Elahé Hiptoola.
Fun fact: While shooting for the film the child actors – Krrish Chhabria (Chotu) and Hetal Gada (Pari) – had to miss out on a few days of their school. But Nagesh made sure that they do not miss out much on their studies. And for this, he put forth a rule for the children that they do their school and homework for an hour every day of the shoot.
