The film narrates the story of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Harinder Singh Sikka is the first to ever make a biopic on the the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev Ji titled Nanak Shah Fakir. The film is an attempt to capture the life and teachings of the Guru from the eyes of his friend, follower and disciple, Bhai Mardana. Given that the film is really not the talk of town, it was only by accident that I happened to catch the trailer of the film and trust me, I was hooked almost immediately after I hit play.

What I loved about the trailer was the way it built the mystery around the Guru with people talking about him, discussing him. You only get a few teeny-tiny glimpses of Nanak. Another prominent characteristic is its background score which complements the mystic feel of the film perfectly. The overall journey of the Guru has been depicted through high end computer graphics.

The trailer justifies the rave reviews the film garnered at the Cannes Film Festival 2014. Nanak Shah Fakir which will release on April 17, stars Arif Zakaria, Puneet Sikka, Aadil Hussain and Govind Pandey in pivotal roles.
