After Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui's latest outing Manjhi- The Mountain Man seems to be winning over everyone's hearts. While Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh had already waived of the tax on the film, Uttarakhand has now declared Manjhi, tax free in the state. The Ketan Mehta-directed film, which released on Friday, was granted the tax-free status by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat. According to a statement, film specialists met Rawat and requested him to waive off tax on the film.
Earlier last night, Salman too had tweeted in support of the film. He wrote, "Kick n bajrangi bhaijaan k baad nawaz ki film Manjhi release hogayi hai aaj wishing @Nawazuddin_S n the team all the best n a big hit."
Manjhi: The Mountain Man is based on the life of Dashrath Manjhi, a poor labourer hailing from Gehlaur village in Gaya district widely known as the Mountain Man. He had laid a road through the mountain using only hammer and chisel in memory of his wife who passed away without medical treatment as travel to the nearest hospital took a lot of time due to the mountain. While Nawaz essays the role of Manjhi, Radhika Apte plays his wife. As per latest update, the film is leading a successful run at the box office. Keep watching this space for more updates!
