The Narcotics Control Bureau has filed a plea in the Bombay High Court asking for the bail of Rhea Chakraborty and her brother to be cancelled. The body said that the special court relating to the NDPS Act had ignored previous observations and erred in granting bail to Rhea Chakraborty and her brother, Showik. In October 2020, the Bombay High Court had rejected the bail plea of Showik Chakraborty. It was given to actress Rhea Chakraborty who is at the centre of the investigation involving late Sushant Singh Rajput. The NCB has said to the High Court that the NDPS Court had failed to observe that Showik Chakraborty was connected to some of the players who were arrested. Contraband of commercial quantity has been seized from some of the people who allegedly supplied marijuana to Rhea Chakraborty and Showik.
The actress and her brother have said that they would buy for late Sushant Singh Rajput, who was allegedly into use of marijuana and bud. The NCB had arrested his staff members like Dipesh Sawant and Samuel Miranda as they would do all the procuring for him. They had recovered electronic evidence of the transaction. It seems Rhea Chakraborty made payment of a quantity of marijuana in May 2020, and digital evidence was recovered about the same.
People like Suryadeep Malhotra, Zaid Vilatra and Abdul Basit Parihar were arrested by the NCB. Suryadeep Malhotra is apparently a childhood friend of Showik Chakraborty. A few of them have admitted to knowing the young man. Rhea Chakraborty was in a relationship with the deceased actor for a year. After his demise, his father filed a case against her for abetment of suicide and cheating. When the ED scanned through her phones, the drug chats were discovered. As of now, the CBI is investigating the matter. A public movement seeking justice for Sushant Singh Rajput and Disha Salian is on.
