We EXCLUSIVELY got in touch with Shekhar and here's what he had to say. Read on...
By now everyone must be aware about the unexpected fuss surrounding a film which is as genuine as Neerja. Nupoor Abrol, a crew member who was present on the flight when the real hijack took place has lashed out at the makers of Neerja for making a wrong portrayal of the whole incident. In fact, she even took to Facebook and wrote, "Yes, truly a very difficult moment. But also a difficult moment for all those flight attendants to accept the movie for what it is unfairly propagating. Neerja was a wonderful person and I think even her soul today would cringe at taking this undeserved adulation. Not fair to the FA’s who have in reality faced their ordeal!"
While producer Atul Kasbekar EXCLUSIVELY reacted to this by saying, "Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don't think I need to give clearance to anyone who has to say something, the fact of the matter is that three countries of the world - America, Pakistan and India have given her (Neerja Bhanot) a bravery award and I am sure they have stringent guidelines as to how bravery awards are given." We now got in touch with music composer-singer Shekhar Rijvani who also made his acting debut with Neerja, to know his point of view and you'll be surprised to hear his reaction.
Firstly, I dunno how but Shekhar was clueless about this whole controversy. But after me giving him a gist of the whole Facebook post and how it's spreading a negative reaction around the film, Shekhar quickly prompted, "I actually wouldn't like to comment anything on this. Coz at the end of the day, when a film gets accepted and a lot of love, then suddenly a lot of people start screaming and shouting. So I dunno if there's any kind of truth in it or not. But I definitely would not like to comment on it."
Considering he played safe in terms of dealing with controversies, I then asked him what's his trick to keep him cool when in trouble and he added, "You know when there's criticism and people are talking negative then you know that the song/film has created an impact. I believe if there are a lot of topics, criticisms coming out of the song/film, that means they have loved it. So I see it in a very positive light and don't get amazed by it."
