The superstar has urged his fans to not indulge in any celebrations for his birthday

Chennai might have emerged out of devastating floods, but the ordeal for Chennaites is far from over.

From sanitation troubles to outbreak of deadly diseases to loss of lives and property - all these problems demand relief and rehabilitation work at massive scale. While actors like Siddharth, RJ Balaji, Madhavan and Dhanush are doing their bit to provide help, several actors from across film industries have poured in financial help. Rajinikanth himself had donated Rs 10 lakh during the initial days of floods

Now the Thalaivar has donated Rs 10 crore to Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa for the relief and rehabilitation of flood victims. Not just that, Rajini will not be celebrating his birthday this year. Every year, December 12 marks Rajini's birthday, which leads to widespread celebrations by fans all over the globe. But this time around, the actor has urged his fans to understand the grimness of the situation and has requested not to celebrate his birthday while Chennaites are struggling to get back on their feet.

"As Tamil Nadu is limping back to normalcy after being struck by the worst rains in over a century, Rajinikanth has requested his fans to join hands and help the rain savaged people in relief work," said a close to the actor. While the floods are over, the aftermath of this disaster might haunt even Tamil films that are scheduled to release this month.
