So there's a lot of tension brewing in the industry right now due to the sudden ban on Pakistani actors. MNS has already warned Karan Johar that they won't let Ae Dil Hai Mushkil release considering the film stars Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan. In fact, they even imposed a 48 hour ultimatum asking every other Pakistani actor to leave our country ASAP. While all this while everyone has been only stressing about Fawad and Raees actress Mahira Khan considering they are the few famous Pakistani actors in Bollywood right now. Guess everyone's forgetting that Shah Rukh Khan's Dear Zindagi too has a Pakistani connection with Ali Zafar playing one of the main leads in the film. That's right!
For all the ignorant, Ali Zafar plays a pivotal role opposite Shah Rukh, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Angad Bedi and Kunal Kapoor in the film. And mind you, Ali is an equally familiar Pakistani face to the likes of Fawad and Mahira. So if at all MNS is behaving so stringent about banning films starring Pakistani actors, will Dear Zindagi too have to face the consequences? In fact, strangely all three films that are in question for Pakistani connection include Shah Rukh Khan. I mean, even Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has Shah Rukh in a special appearance, remember? Nevertheless, let's see how far does MNS go ahead with this regressive measure of banning Pakistani actors as the Mumbai police further claims that it will give security to Pakistan nationals in Mumbai who have valid documents. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ashwini Sanap said,”We are taking this matter seriously. Proper security will be given to all the artists in Mumbai. They need not worry."
Reacting to this terrible scenario, Karan Johar in his recent interview had pleaded to 'leave him alone' saying, "Today I am not somebody who can find the answer. I am nobody in that scheme of things. I am just a filmmaker, telling a love story. Today I feel, I am a vulnerable soft target. I have faced it, felt the repercussions of it in the past and I have constantly combated that.Sometimes, you just want to fold your hands and say, ‘We are creative industry. Please leave us alone. We make movies, we spread love. There are millions in the world, in our country who are happy with the work we do, allow us that…’ I think we should not be those soft targets anymore. We don’t matter in the scheme of things but we can make things happier and better."
While Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is scheduled to hit the screens on October 28. Dear Zindagi has locked November 25 as it's release date. Will the film manage to make it to the big screens? Drop your thoughts in the comments below and we'll be back with more updates right here.
