Madhur Bhandarkar's last movie Calendar Girls had released in September 2015. Now, exactly a year later the Fashion director is already researching on his next project. There were talks that the director was going to be working on a film based on Bollywood wives and another on air hostesses, but that's not the case. Because this time, his film will revolve around the period of Emergency in 1975. Whoa! Looks like the directing is taking a whole different route. Here's what a source connected to the film told a leading portal, “Madhur has been working on the script for the last eight months and doing his research in the Nehru Memorial Museum & Library in Delhi.” When asked whether the film would hold similarities to Baadshaho because it was set in a similar era, the source clarified that this film would be completely different. Well we can't wait for this one to go on floors, specially because the subject seems intriguing. We wonder if this movie will have a pivotal female character. And if that is case, who would be roped in? Well, things are looking exciting already. We are now awaiting an announcement from the director himself.
Madhur Bhandarkar's last release Calendar girls was about four girls from different regions who were selected to pose for annual calendar which was a joint collaboration between a business tycoon and a photographer. Each of these girls were making their Bollywood debut with this film. Suhel Seth and Rohit were also part of the star cast. The movie was reportedly 75% reality while the rest was fictionalized. He had mentioned that the revelations in the film would shock everyone. Unfortunately, the film didn't go on to do well at the Box office.
For all those who don't know, a little more than a year ago, Madhur Bhandarkar was all ready with his script for Madamji which revolved around the life of an actress turned politician. It's about how a small time actress turned to politics under the guidance of her mentor. Also, the actress would be portrayed in her late thirties or early forties. Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan were among the contenders for this film. In fact, it came down to Priyanka Chopra being chosen who also was going to turn producer with this film. But the film ended being put on hold, as Priyanka got busy with Quantico. She had to give away 70 days to shoot Madamji which wasn't possible once Quantico had been extended. But she mention that someday she would go on to do it. But looks like Madhur Bhandarkar is all set for his next project! Madamji or not, he is ready to roll!
