Revisiting Rishi Kapoor’s hit song Tayyab Ali almost three decades later was not a cakewalk for the new cast
Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan look as cool as a cucumber in the song track Tayyab Ali from Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Dobara, but we take you behind the scenes where the reality is quite differentSweating it out on Mumbai’s Mohammed Ali road, Imran and Sonakshi argued as to who was in a more tight spot. Imran Khan who unlike most heroes is not comfortable doing the song and dance sequence feels that this is his career’s most difficult song, while co-star Sonakshi gives him thumbs up for his cool dance moves.
Filmmaker Milan Luthria has a lot riding on him at the moment, after a successful run at the box-office, so when the director decided to add this track he felt that one shouldn’t tamper its melody or calibre when you revisit a classic. He has however added a little more of today’s style and lingo to the song with words like puraana chawal finding its way into the song’s lyrics. He adds, ‘First time I was listening to the song and I was passing Rishi Kapoor’s house in Bandra and I thought that it was a good omen.’ Guess Ekta Kapoor’s superstitious ways have now rubbed on Luthria too!
This song that’s reinvented and reintroduced for the new generation has a sense of humour and seems like the efforts of Sonakshi-Imran are paying off. But, will it match Rishi-Neetu Kapoor’s chemistry? Our guess is as good as yours!
