The Rajput Karni Sena is at it again. Despite several assurances from both the makers of Padmaavat and the authorities, the fringe group refuses to let go. After being snubbed by the Supreme Court, that lifted the ban from the film, the group of protesting hooligans threatened to attack the actors and the director and also perform self-immolation as legend has it that their beloved queen Padmini had. But since their threats fell on deaf ears and the makers continued to gear up for the release of their film, the Rajput Karni Sena have now called for a nationwide Bandh on the day of the film's release.
The film, that was supposed to release on December 1, 2017, earlier, couldn't see the light of the day as protesters made it impossible for the makers to promote the film. Add to that the fact that the film wasn't certified by the CBFC till then, further hampered the release of the film. Now, with the Board's clearance and the Supreme Court orders, the film should be able to enjoy a good release but the group is trying to ensure that it doesn't happen. According to a report on a news portal, the fringe group staged protests in Ambala and threatened to burn down the theatres screening the film. The chief of the group, Lokendra Singh Kalvi, called for the Bharat Bandh, along with announcing that he would be in Mumbai on the day of the film's release to ensure that the strike is effective. Well, considering that the film has judicial consent, there seems to be no cause of worry for the filmmakers. However, given how the fringe group has been acting till now, it would be advisable that the makers and theatres screening the film are provided with ample security so as to avoid violence and unrest.
