Ali Zafar is one of the few Pakistani actors to have won the Indians with his charm, good looks and talent. The singer-actor has an equally good looking younger brother Danyal Zafar who was to mark his Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions film soon. However, the ongoing political tension between India and Pakistan following the Uri attacks and the subsequent ban on Pakistani actors by the MNS has derailed not just his debut project, but also stalled the whole idea of making this film. Yes, BollywoodLife source revealed that Danyal was to feature in Karan's film that was to star Fawad Khan and Katrina Kaif. But the fate of this film will be only determined on whether the government makes this political ban an official one.
We already know that Karan's next film with Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles also has Fawad Khan. And with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena declaring an open war against KJo and protesting outside his Bandra residence there are doubts if the movie will release without a hitch. The MNS had given an ultimatum to all Pakistani actors working in Bollywood to leave the country within 48 hours. They had even threatened to throw these actors out if they did not comply and leave the nation asap. We've also heard that Salman Khan has stepped in support of Karan Johar and was in talks with the MNS party leader Raj Thackeray to not make ADHM a political matter. There was party mob outside Karan's residence protesting against the filmmaker. While it's debatable that ban on Pakistani talent is a solution to terrorism, we are waiting to see what happens to film.
However this political pressure on the film industry is already affecting not just movies, but also Pakistani actors. Now look at Danyal, the budding talent's project has been shelved. BollywoodLife was the first to tell you that Katrina Kaif and Fawad Khan were being cast for a Dharma film and while it was said that Kat's last film Baar Baar Dekho's dismal performance at the box office had made the makers skeptical, the newest controversy has given the team a cold feat. What's worse is that this film was to not just have Fawad, but would also see Danyal. We bet that would be too big a risk for any production house to invest in. There were rumours that Ali Zafar's brother was also in talks with Yash Raj Films for a movie, but we're sure that those plans are on hold too as of now.
