Pankaj Tripathi on getting Special Mention at 65th National Film Awards: I had no idea I was in the running

Pankaj Tripathi has just been credited with a Special Mention by the jury of 65th National Film Award. The winners list was announced a while ago and everyone is happy with the awardees. Well, according to us, Pankaj Tripathi deserved this honour long back but it's better late than never. Obviously, he is excited about it. He said, "I am absolutely delighted. I had no idea I was even in the running. It feels amazing to know that the whole country thought my role in Newton was one of my best and to win the Special Mention Award at the highest film award in India is just exhilarating. My director and co-actors made it so easy for me to act in this film."

PTI had quoted Pankaj Tripathi earlier, "Newton is not trying to be intellectual. It is not even proposing that look we are trying to say something so great that you won't understand. It doesn't belittle the sensibility of cinema- goers. It is made with a view to tell the story in a simple and humorous manner." That definitely has clicked, not only with the audience and critics but also with the jury of the National Film Awards. Rajkummar Rao, too, can't stop gushing about the film which got the Best Film Award and Tripathi.
