The Kabir Khan directorial is set to hit screens on August 28
Kabir Khan's upcoming Indian political thriller, Phantom has been surrounded in rumours for a while now, owing to the repeated delays it faced. It was even being said that the film which stars Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif, has been shelved, until Kabir put these rumours to rest recently while interacting with the media. The makers finally released the posters giving eager fans a glimpse of Saif and Katrina's looks from the film. Well, with the rugged, dishevelled avatars of the lead pair, the posters did their job well; that of teasing and intriguing us. We were mighty impressed by the way it captured the essence of the film. Unfortunately, the trailer fails to create the same impression.
The film, as we know, is an adaptation of Hussain Zaidi's book, Mumbai Avengers. The story is set in Mumbai post the 26/11 attacks and deals with the issue of global terrorism. To start with, the topic itself is very dated, so to try to provoke people with a tag line 'a story you wish were true' does not really work.
Then it has that been-there-done-that element too. From what we've seen in the trailer, the film seems to have a remarked similarity to Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger; from the story to the sets to the heroine. The only highlight of the trailer was Saif Ali Khan's earnest and intense performance.
Here take a look at the trailer and tell us what you think of it...
