One of the critically acclaimed films of the year, Pink made viewers sit back and introspect on the subject it touched upon. With content being the king, the film did very well in theatres though it had a limited release. The film is running in 698 cinema halls in India and people are still going to watch the film. It has done better than many other films this year. The collections of Pink on the third Friday of its release was 58.8 crores. Today it has crossed the 60 crore mark. This makes it an out and out winner at the box office. Pink released with Raaz Reboot on September 16, 2016. The film directed by Anirrudha Roy Choudhary and produced by Rashmi Sharma, Shoojit Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri was made on a budget of a little over Rs 20 crores. It managed to gross more than Rs 50 crores within 10 days of its release. Raaz Reboot that released along with it managed to cross only Rs 20 crores in 10 days.
With its hard-hitting subject, good performances and effective writing, Pink managed to draw applause from all sections of society. The film was appreciated by the industry as well. In fact, Pink is very close to overtaking the collections of Mohenjo Daro. The fact that films like Banjo, Parched and Days of Tafree did not do well gave Pink a better time at the theatres.
Sushant Singh Rajput's M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story has hit a helicopter shot at the ticket windows. It has crossed Rs 41.9 cr in two days which mean that it will have a Rs 60 crore weekend. It is admirable to see how Pink is holding fort in this MS Dhoni: The Untold Story wave. It's first day collections were second only to Sultan that amassed Rs 36.5 cr in the first day. The collections also beat that of Shah Rukh Khan's fan that earned Rs 19. 2 on day one. We don't know how the film will sustain at the box office as yet but audiences are loving Sushant Singh Rajput's performance in the Neeraj Pandey biopic.
Pink has crossed Rs 60 crore today. It made Rs 1.08 cr on Friday and Rs 1.35 cr on Saturday. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh described the film as a superhit.
