Power Paandi trailer: Power Paandi trailer: Dhanush’s directorial debut promises to be entertaining and heartfelt
Times of India wrote: In his directorial debut, Dhanush gives us a heartwarming film that, despite its conventional storytelling, packs in a huge emotional wallop. Where he scores the most is in handling this subject in an understated manner befitting his story, letting characters and their emotions take the pride of place, instead of resorting to flashy filmmaking just because this is his first film as a director. As a writer, he strikes a fine balance between the emotional and crowd-pleasing moments.
Here's what Hindustan Times has to say: Dhanush, in his directorial debut plays his cards very smartly. Instead of going big in an effort to produce a bang, he goes small with a slice-of-drama of a senior citizen. It’s gutsy of a star of his stature to make a film with an older protagonist and he not only shines in this endeavor but also wins hearts and how.
Indiaglitz believes the film could have been snipped and made sharper - Velraj’s cinematography is apt for the film while the editing could have been a little better as a few out of focus shots are found here and there in the cuts. Sean Rolden’s songs are pleasing to hear and his background score too passes muster. Dhanush has written a gripping screenplay laden with emotions that connect and he has extracted all-round good performances from his cast. If only he could trim or even do away with the flashback portions this film will be even more satisfying.
Behindwoods believes the film is for everyone - Pa Paandi is packed with some realistic dialogues and emotions that many could relate to. It has something for everyone. Fathers would like it and so would kids. So it’s a film for family audience who might leave the theatre with some degree of satisfaction.
