Here's the latest twist in the case. Read on...
In a hearing today, the Bombay HC adjourned Rahul Raj Singh's anticipatory bail plea till April 25, in connection with girlfriend Pratyusha Banerjee’s suicide case. For all that we know, Rahul’s bail plea was earlier rejected observing that his girlfriend was abused several times and it cannot be said that he has neither abetted nor instigated her to commit suicide. The sessions court had stated that in the light of accusations against Singh, the matter had to be thoroughly investigated, which was not possible in his absence, as the police will find it difficult to collect the best possible evidence. On April 7, a Mumbai sessions court had rejected Rahul’s anticipatory bail application, following which the producer filed a plea in the High Court and was granted an interim relief from arrest for a week by the Bombay High Court on April 12.
An FIR was registered against the producer-actor, who was in a live-in relationship with Banerjee after her mother, Soma alleged that Singh had abetted and instigated the suicide. Two days after Pratyusha's death(on April 1), a case under IPC sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 504, 506 (criminal intimidation), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC was registered against Rahul following a complaint lodged by the actress’s parents.
If the latest report is anything to go by, then Rahul has now been discharged from the hospital where he was being treated for depression. The police have already prepared a detailed questionnaire for Rahul, but they need more time with the producer to interrogate him better. As senior police inspector of Bangur Nagar police station, Santosh Bhandare told Hindustan Times, “Our stand is that we will oppose his bail plea. We want his custody." Another officer was quoted saying “We require the accused (Rahul Raj Singh) to be in our custody at least for a few days so that a sustained interrogation is possible. He is not cooperating with us and not speaking much when questioned. We will oppose his anticipatory bail in the high court on Monday. We will also present his statements before the court. He is refuting the allegations against him."
