Madhu Chopra reveals that her daughter Priyanka Chopra has definite plans to go ahead with a few Hindi films, including Madamji, which she was co-producing with Madhur Bhandarkar.
“It was kept on hold earlier because a few other films with similar story lines appeared on screen, but Madamji is not in cold storage. It has certainly not been abandoned unless Madhur changes his mind on that. On our part, we will be going ahead with the film,” she reveals.
There were reports that the Calendar Girls director was upset with Priyanka for giving her dates to Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Bajirao Mastani and that Priyanka wasn’t happy with the striking resemblance her project had with Ms Sherawat’s movie. Madhur was re-working the Madamji script but then reports of the film being canned started doing rounds. Priyanka on the other hand had her hands full with international project Quantico and Madamji. Speculations were rife as to how Ms Chopra was giving a royal ignore to her Fashion director because she lost interest in the film that she was also co-producing.
In an EXCLUSIVE interview with BollywoodLife, the three time National Award winner director spoke of his alleged fallout with his Fashion actress. He denied the same vehemently and confirmed that Madamji is still on and Priyanka is very much a part of this project. “The equation between Priyanka and me has not changed one bit. We are still on the same page with regard to our next film together, Madamji,” he said last year.
“Madamji is going to be amazing. It is about an item girl who makes a foray into politics. I have added a lot of references from real UP politics,” he revealed.
She further confirmed that PC had no plans whatsoever to wrap up her Bollywood career, “Priyanka is currently looking at interesting collaborations on the Hindi film front. Moreover, she would like to make a full-fledged Hindi movie under her own banner. It will be a film close to her heart,” she concludes.
