Garuda Vega starring Rajasekhar is touted to be a racy, action thriller film. In an interview, Rajasekhar revealed what drew him to the actioner - "I had always wanted to do films like 'Bourne Identity, 'Die Hard' and 'Lethal Weapon' in a way that would suit the Indian sensibilities. But no producer came forward with such an offer for years. I am lucky that Praveen Sattaru came up with 'GV'. This has a gripping narration. Rich visuals and an interesting screenplay make it a unique film for Telugu cinema." The film finally hit theatres today, here's what critics have to say about the actioner:
Times of India believes Garuda Vega is not typical action action entertainer: The first half of the film replete with fast-paced chase sequences and action scenes manages to keep you on the edge of your seat. For instance, the introductory scene where the hacker manages to break free from assassins by diving into a river from a running train or the episode in which Shekhar and his team detect a bomb planted with the intention of killing a politician Pratap Reddy (Posani Krishna Murali) and defuse it in time, has been beautifully conceived and executed by director Praveen Sattaru.
Chitramala is of the view, Garuda Vega is a Rajashekar show all the way - The film is Rajasekhar’s one-man show. He is there in almost every scene of the film. His body language is perfect as an intelligence officer. Rajasekhar’s screen presence is vibrant. After a long time, he has come up with a role that suits him well and this is going to be a major breakthrough in his career. Pooja Kumar is okay in the film.
Mirchi9 believes Rajasekhar's angry young man avatar is the saving grace of his performance -Rajasekhar looks aged and uncomfortable in many scenes, but it is his image of “Angry Young Man” that helps him pull off the role. The actor is good in those thrilling sequences which require him to bring forth the image. Apart from that quality which helps in the narrative, there is nothing else from the performance perspective.
