There might be more to discover in the murder case
Qandeel Baloch, 26, a prominent social media celebrity in Pakistan, was murdered by her brother Muhammad Waseem. 'Honour killing' is a prevalent practice in Pakistan, and Qandeel also fell victim to it. even though Waseem as confessed to his crime, the police is expanding probe into the matter. A news agency reports that police are investigating the model's elder brother Muhammad Aslam now, to know about if he played any role in the murder. Reportedly, he was the one who encouraged Waseem to murder their sister. Aslam is a Junior army officer.
It was no one else but their father Muhammad Azeem, who has filed a police report accusing the two brothers, Waseem and Aslam, of conspiring against their sister. Police have declined to comment on Aslam's role and he was not available for comment on Monday.
"She was my son, not a daughter. I have lost my son," Baloch's father said, according to the English-language Dawn newspaper. "She supported all of us, including my son who killed her."
Police added that Qandeel was in Multan for one week and the forensic experts are examining her corpse. The initial post-mortem reports, however, confirm that Qandeel was strangled to death and no marks of torture were found on her body. In a press conference Waseem confessed to the media of his crime. "Yes of course, I strangled her, it was around 10.45 pm when I gave her a tablet… and then killed her.” he said.
Qandeel’s body was laid to rest in her ancestral village on Sunday.
