Certain reports claim that Rajinikanth's Kabali has managed to garner 600+ crore in 10 days. Is there any truth to this record breaking figure?
When Rajinikanth's Kabali released on July 22nd, it opened to a phenomenal response worldwide. We witnessed the Rajini star power in its full measure. Despite mixed reviews, the movie stood its ground and earned a decent overall amount at the box office. But these reports of of Kabali having earned 600 crore+ is plain blasphemy. And we can show you show how. But before we go on, let's make it clear the gangsta drama has NOT managed to break Salman Khan's Sultan's overall collection record which is at Rs 550 crore plus and of course Baahubali records which is at Rs 600 crore worldwide.
As well know, after opening weekend, Kabali had earned a whopping Rs 110 crore at the Indian box office, breaking Sultan's records then. Trade analysts were of the opinion this Rajinikanth starrer might see a dip in the collection post Monday, as the movie received mixed reactions. But the movie continued on steadily thus crossing the Rs 250 crore mark, worldwide. We could only assume that the movie collected another Rs 40 crore in the next week, thus collecting around 300 crore in total. Because according to a trade analyst, the collection has reached Rs 309 crore in 10 days.
Now this figure is nowhere close to the Rs 600 crore+ figure that reports are claiming. Even if we were to add the pre-release amount of Rs 200 crore, it would total up to Rs 500 crores. The movie has turned to be a profitable venture because trade analysts were stating that the movie would have collect at least Rs 300 crores to be called a hit. But then again, the movie hasn't broken Sultan and Baahubali records.
