Salim Khan approved of the film. Anurag Kashyap found it awesome. And then the Munnabhai director sent an encouraging message to the directors of the soon-to-release kiddie film
Ex-UTV honcho Vikas Bahl and ad-man Nitesh Tiwari, who turned directors for Chillar Party, are glowing with pride. No, their film is not out yet, it releases this Friday, July 8, but industry folks who have watched it are singing its praises already. Vikas and Nitesh shot the film two years ago and have wanted to show it to Rajkumar Hirani for a long time now. Finally the Munna Bhai series director took time out and watched it, and now Vikas can’t stop smiling. He reveals the noted filmmaker’s message: “A film I didn’t want to see till I saw it. Eight kids and one dog create two hours of laughter and tears. Chillar Party is a film from the heart and a must see!” Apart from getting such positive feedback from one of the best directors in Bollywood, Bahl and Tiwari received their first trophy from scriptwriting guru, Salman Khan’s father Salim Khan. “We wanted to know if there should be any changes that come from him. He said, 'Just keep it the way it is and don’t touch it!'” recalls Bahl and adds, “In India, to get something from Salim Khan – it can’t get better than that! Humko toh Oscar (Academy Awards) mil gaya!” Even Anurag Kashyap is doing his bit to promote the film. Recently he tweeted: “Chillar Party is rang de meets lage raho janghya bhai... And the kids in chaddi's are just awesome.”
