A lot of excitement was generated among art/parallel-cinema lovers when Rajkummar Rao and Director Hansal Mehta had announced that they'd be working together again post critically acclaimed films like Shahid, Citylights, Aligarh and Omerta. The film, titled Turram Khan, also marked the reunion of Rajkummar and Nushrat Bharucha post Director Dibakar Banerjee's 2010 anthology, Love Sex Aur Dhokha, which has now gained a cult following of sorts. However, following the announcement, not much came to light about the film's development till now, with the latest report being that Turram Khan has been renamed as Chhalaang. The film has also got a new release date — 31st January 2020.

Chhalaang, which was earlier scheduled to hit screens on 3rd January 2020, will now be clashing with Himesh Reshammiya's Happy Hardy and Heer at the box-office. Beside Rajkummar Rao and Nushrat Bharcuha, the film also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in a pivotal supporting role. It's touted to be a social comedy centered on a small town in Uttar Pradesh, usually the place where most medium and small-budgeted film, revolving around the hinterlands of India, are based nowadays. Ajay Devgn will be producing the movie along with Ankur Garg and Luv Ranjan of Sonu Ki TTitu Ki Sweety and Pyaar Ka Punchnama fame.

Meanwhile, Rajkummar is currently shooting for horror-comedy Roohi Afza, alongside Janhvi Kapoor, which is being produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock films, who had also bankrolled 2018's blockbuster horror-comedy Stree. On the other hand, Nushrat, who was last seen with Ayushmann Khurrana in this year's superhit comedy, Dream Girl, will next be seen in Hurdang opposite Vicky Kaushal's kid brother, Sunny Kaushal.
