On 25th March, Deepika Padukone shared the first look from Chhapaak and in no time, the poster went viral across all the social media platforms. Actor Vikrant Massey, who played supporting characters in films like Lootera, Dil Dhadakne Do and Half Girlfriend came on board to play a key character opposite Deepika Padukone in this drama. While many leaked pictures and videos of the duo from the sets surfaced on the internet, it will surprise you to know that Rajkummar Rao was the first choice for the film and didn't do it because of date issues.
In a recent chat show, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga actor said, “I didn’t turn it down. Of course not! I loved that script but my dates were so messed up. I’m so looking forward to that film. I kept telling Meghna and Deepika that it’s my loss.”
Deepika Padukone had to sit for a long time for her prosthetics make-up, which was indeed one of the crucial tasks for the makers. Director Meghna Gulzar said, “You won’t be seeing Deepika, you know. You will be seeing a disfigured Deepika. There is an uncanny similarity between the survivor and Deepika.” The filmmaker also wrote on Deepika's website, “My film was based on acid violence. Of a woman who epitomized immense courage and strength, in the face of crippling adversity.” She also shared that Deepika often jokes around that she agreed to do the film “because of a scene where she gets to eat kairi (raw mangoes) with salt and red chilli powder.”
Chhapaak, which is based on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal is scheduled to hit the screens on January 10, 2020, and will clash with Ajay Devgn and Kajol starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero at the ticket windows. Anyway, are you excited for Chhapaak? Tweet to us @bollywood_life
