Shah Rukh Khan's Raees trailer launch today was overshadowed by one big question. What does the clash with Rakesh Roshan's Kaabil mean for the actor ? For months there has been speculation on if the clash was happening or it could be avoided. The last time Shah Rukh had a clash at the box office it didn't bear good news for him. Dilwale tanked at the box office against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani. But it isn't a standalone case and he isn't the only actor to have worn the scars of a clash between two films.
Kaabil makers Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan were the first to announce the release date of their Sanjay Gupta directorial on January 25. They made an early announcement to state their case and were very clear with their release strategy. Sensing the excitement of the distributors the makers were confident of being the only release on January 25, given that Shah Rukh hadn't made any statement on the same.
However, things changed on Wednesday morning when SRK and team made a formal announcement that they would be coming out with Raees on January 25. When asked about the clash with Kaabil he said, "Actually we decided first because earlier both the films were releasing on 26th. So I think we ended the discussion as soon as we got to know both are releasing together. So we had decided with our exhibitors and distributors that we’ll come on 25th. And I think Kaabil is releasing in the evening shows, we will come at regular shows. So it’s not an issue if they decided first. I think it’s a logical decision as 26th is a holiday and we’d like to take advantage of it."
Despite the unexpected turn of events, Rakesh Roshan is calm and unperturbed by what has happened. You can sense an undertone of anger as any producer who wouldn't get a solo release would be upset, but he's neither bitter nor dismayed by Shah Rukh's comment.
When asked if Raees makers are setting the wrong precedent by coming on the same day as Kaabil, Rakeshji said, "There's no such thing as wrong or right precedent. Every maker thinks his film is best and deserves the best showcase. But I feel there should be an understanding in the industry. Like no two big films really clash in Hollywood. They set the right examples. Here we will take time to get that professional I'm guessing. But as long as one film doesn't affect the other no one will think they've done wrong by coming on an already taken date "
Has this incident affected his long standing equation with Shah Rukh with whom he's worked in KAran Arjun and Koyla, Roshasays, "Like The Godfather says, 'It's never personal. It's just business', likewise SRK has been my actor and my friend and that won't change"

This statement should put an end to rumours of a verbal spat between Rakesh Roshan and Shah Rukh following the latest update on the clash. Industry insiders are positive on Kaabil and experts believe that despite a clash the film with the best content will eventually emerge victorious on D day.
