Anurag Kashyap's directorial has opened up to bad reviews from across the nation...
Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma's Bombay Velvet released today and the film hasn't opened up well. A lot of reports have been coming in from across the nation where the first day first show was cancelled because there was no one in the audience. Trade analysts have called it 'a sad day for the film industry'. However, critics have stood by the technical aspects in the film and informed that the film is good in the production aspect.
Anurag Kashyap recreated the 1960’s era for Bombay Velvet. From the sets to the actors’ looks and costumes, everything has been designed and created from scratch. Since the costumes belong to that period, they have been intricately designed and are very heavy. In fact, the entire casts’ costumes collectively weigh about 25,000 kg. The makers of the film have decided to auction some of the costumes and donate the proceeds to charity. About 1,200 to 1,500 of Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma’s costumes will be auctioned online. So people can now own Ranbir and Anushka’s outfits. A lot of detailing and effort has gone into each and every costume. Numerous tailors were hired to stitch the outfits. In fact, besides the lead actors and supporting cast, even the junior artistes were wearing elaborate costumes.
This can be a tactic to recover some of the production cost of the movie, which is almost close to 150 crores. Everyone in the film industry hopes that the film does well and gets the cash registers jingling at the box office. After the disastrous first day opening, we hope that the collections pick up in the coming weekend or so.
