However, the actor and filmmaker are bonding on different matters
A few days back, there was news that Ranbir Kapoor and Shoojit Sircar might collaborate for a film. It seems the filmmaker's proximity to Abhishek Bachchan and the Kapoor lad sparked off the stories. Well, the trio play football together. In an interview to a leading tabloid, the Madras Cafe director said, "But for now, our addas are only about football and films. He loved Piku and wanted to chat about it." However, Shoojit added that he had connected with him earlier for a film and would like to collaborate in the future as well.
Film buffs will surely watch out for that particular project. It seems the actor is keen to do a football based film with Shoojit. He regularly plays the sport and would be a great fit for the same. Shoojit had also planned a flick on legendary footballer Shibdas Bhaduri titled 1911. However, that project is now on the backburner as the script is being worked on. John Abraham is keen to do the project as he is a football buff. However, the actor also wants the right script. Their debut collaboration Vicky Donor was appreciated by all.
Shoojit also spoke about Pink, his upcoming film (as a producer) that stars Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. The director also revealed how he was apprehensive about approaching Big B for the role of the defence counsel in Aniruddha Roy Choudhary’s Pink. This was despite the great success Shoojit and Bachchan tasted with Piku. The filmmaker stated, “We were still developing the role. It was a two-minute briefing. Next morning I almost fell off my chair when his office called asking for the script and when I wanted to shoot.” The Vicky Donor director says that the actor started reading up on cases once he came on board as the moody lawyer. He prepped a lot for the film. “I started out like the head coach of a football team offering Tony (Aniruddha Roy Choudhary) a platform but because of Mr Bachchan was involved in every department.”
Pink marks the debut of TV producer Rashmi Sharma in films as a producer.
